"The Great Secret of the Universe"

Ironically, the law of attraction-centric Netflix documentary The Secret which declares it is “The Great Secret of the universe”... is not so secret... AND was actually debunked in the first book of the Bible, Genesis.

This is not new to humanity, and practicing it brings about demonic chains wrapped around your neck and being, leading you further away from salvation and on the path to hell. Your spirit is at stake, and Satan doesn't play fair.

Your spirit is at stake, and Satan doesn't play fair.

Ultimately, believing you can receive anything from your own genius, your own focused thought patterns (which is what this practice entails) destroys the first commandment to Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. It is idolatry and a sin against God.

The LOA is NOT a lie you want to entertain and unfortunately it has seeded its way slyly into our culture, unbeknownst to those who don't comprehend the dangers that lurk beneath.

Can You "Create Your Own Reality?"

The answer is simple: NO.

God creates all things and it is through our submission to Him in our lives that we receive blessings and grace. But why? The story plays out in Genesis Chapter 3. To sum it up, Satan tricked Eve by influencing her thoughts into believing that if she ate the fruit her eyes would be opened, she would gain hidden knowledge and become like God himself. He cast doubt on who she was. Her sin was not fully trusting in the Lord as well as her pride. She believed she could through her own actions, raise herself into being a mini-god!

The LOA is one and the same, it too is a profound lie that casts doubt on the need for God and living according to His principles. It teaches you that YOU have the ability to control reality. YOU can create your own destiny by unlocking an inner hidden power and potential and that this secret has "been passed down through the ages." It is all about YOU. (Pride)

This false narrative even goes as far as to say that it has been used by great minds alike to create the life of their dreams. But what about what truly matters: the other side of eternity?

Who is Satan and What Authority Does He Have?

What traps people into this practice is an all too familiar problem in our culture, an enticing and easy "fix" to our problems, as well as a lack of understanding of who and what Satan is. It's important to understand what God say's about him, that he "was more crafty (subtle, skilled in deceit) than any living creature" (Genesis 3:1) and has authority to manipulate, to an extent, this world we live in.

If you were to only look on the surface, this practice may seem harmless, being mindful of what you're thinking about isn't a bad thing in and of itself. What makes LOA dangerous is that it doesn't stop there. Watching your thoughts so you are able to manipulate aspects of your life, THAT is where this practice is flipped on its head and reeks of occult power and manipulation. It puts you on a throne and distorts ones thinking, imagining you on par with God as a powerful creator. That is the definition of Idolatry and again smashes the first great commandment putting you against odds against the one true God.

Guarding Your Mind is Biblical

Technically we ARE commanded in the Bible to watch our thoughts; 2 Corinthians 10:5 says "We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ." We are to guard every "thought and purpose" so that we can take them, key words here, captive to Christ!

When I first ran into LOA all those years ago, I was unaware of this hitch. I didn't understand God and his characteristics, but that didn't excuse my culpability. God has made himself known to man since the beginning of time, it is our responsibility, free will, to cultivate the right relationship with him. God allows us the choice between good and evil, and in our choice, he does give us over to our vain imaginations, as he did for me.

I was naive enough to think I was smart, in particular, that I could decipher between good and evil. God and Satan. Wrong!!! This type of thinking is chalked full of pride, as I said earlier, and one of the Seven Deadly Sins.

A Satanic Sign and Wonder that leads to Eternal Death

In the LOA you certainly aren't entertaining the TRUTH of who Jesus Christ is and was, in fact, you bypass the Holy Trinity, deny the power of the Cross, and halt the sanctification process entirely. In the LOA, it’s not the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that perfects you, but rather demons who "gift" you with a satanic sign and wonder that leads you to eternal death.

I am currently dealing with the fallout of this and other "new age" practices. It's nothing to joke about, or entertain, and is something you should take seriously. The amount of LOA quotes seen on Facebook alone is nauseating.

Closing Thoughts

LOA sounds attractive to someone who is desperate, confused, immature, and not theologically grounded. Also, it is dangerous. Young and old, the masses are seeing this content being pushed by media conglomerates, Hollywood, social media, etc., and its ramifications couldn't be more serious.

LOA and other New Age practices are on the rise, no longer hidden on the fringe of society for outliers to gain access. Conversely, learning about God and his ways is sold as rigid and looked down upon as ancient.

In order to push back against false narratives, it's important we use our free will to cultivate a right relationship with the Lord, and take up the whole armor of God.

We must educate ourselves on occult practices which are depicted clearly in the Bible because they are not a thing of the past and actually plague our culture to this day.

It is right to use our voice and call out these practices for what they are; deceptive lies mixed with demonic intentions which lead to the eternal damnation of your soul.

To someone who isn't aware of their salvation in Jesus Christ, that HE is the truth, the light, and the way, the battle for their soul is, as the Body of Christ, our goal to touch. We are called to help lead others into the kingdom. And when they hear the lies of Satan, that LOA is the key to “unlimited joy, health, money, relationships, love, youth” etc. having push back on this, from an educated Body of Christ, will make a difference.
